Why supplying your own parts is a bad idea?

If your vehicle is not operating as it should and your automotive technician has suggested to install a new part, you might be tempted to purchase the part online in an effort to save money. Purchasing your own parts online is not recommended and is likely to cause additional hassles that may ultimately end up costing you more time and money than was originally quoted.

Here at Kelowna Transmission & Auto Repair, we don’t install customer-supplied parts and instead buy quality parts from trusted suppliers, such as NAPA and Lordco, so that we can continue to provide the best service possible.

Other parts are often of a lesser quality

When you buy parts online or from another dealer, the parts could be sub-quality and might not work well for your vehicle. Cheaper auto parts usually don’t offer the same performance and will break down sooner. The parts that we use at Kelowna Transmission & Auto Repair always come from reputable suppliers.

You might order the wrong parts for your vehicle

Certain parts are made to fit only certain types of vehicles, and you may end up buying parts that won’t work with the type of vehicle that you drive. The wrong parts could either be useless for your vehicle or could cause other damages that can result in more expensive repairs. Our automotive technicians use the correct parts according to the specific year, make and model of each vehicle that we service.

Limited warranty protection

The parts that you buy from another supplier could have warranties that aren’t covered by our shop. Also, other suppliers usually don’t offer service warranties if they aren’t installing the parts themselves, which is why they can sell them at cheaper prices. If you were to bring us a part and it failed, we would be unable to honour any warranty that the part has, nor would we be able to provide a warranty on labour if the part needed to be removed and replaced.

At Kelowna Transmission & Auto Repair, we strive to save our customers as much time, money and stress as possible. Do yourself a favour and allow us to both supply and install your auto parts for you. Please visit www.kelownatransmission.com to learn more about our services and appointment scheduling information.
